LOEWE, the Spanish luxury house, has signed a collaborative agreement with the Association of Friends of the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Ibiza, MACE, for the opening of a ´Summer Shop´ in the museum. The space will host the brand’s John Allen collection, inspired by the work of the British artist, along with a selection of Summer 2015 ready to wear.
The ´Summer Shop´, which will be open from 28 July through 6 September, reflects LOEWE’s desire to support MACE as part of the brand’s active engagement with art and culture. John Allen´s work is characterized by an extraordinary sense of colour and abstracted scenes of the British landscape, and is the starting point for the collection of accessories that he designed for the brand, alongside Jonathan Anderson, creative director of LOEWE. ´Falling Leaves´, ´Cornish Harbour´ and ´Pink House in Cumbria´ are the prints that have been reproduced on tote bags, canvas accessories, silk scarves, beach towels and other items. ‘John’s use of colour and the purity of his work translate perfectly to LOEWE, which stands for the very best in craft today,’ says Anderson.
LOEWE began as a cooperative of leather artisans in the center of Madrid in 1846, creating one of the world’s original luxury houses. Innovation, modernity and high-level craftsmanship have been hallmarks of the house from its beginnings to this day, In October 2013, Jonathan Anderson was appointed Creative Director. Under his helm, LOEWE reconfigures a 169-year-old legacy of craft and innovation to take it into the future.
